Georgian Bay Fishing Camp
I've used Georgian Bay Fishing Camp many times now for spring pike. The 2008 trip was exceptional in that, between myself and one other Fly-fisherman (Al)we caught and released 9 pike. Six were over 37" and three were over 40" in 3 days of fly-fishing. These pike can be huge, hours of search casting is sometimes required. I think the number one thing to remember when fishing the Georgian Bay Delta is DON'T GIVE UP!! Long days with large flies can take its toll on your casting arm. As I always say, nothing is for free. The flip side to this is large fish and maybe a personal best pike on the fly. This happened on our trip with my friend Al catching his PB: a 42" brute which was the biggest fish of our stay.
The French River Delta is noted for its extra large fish and the smallmouth bass is no exception. Dave (owner of the GBFC)was telling me that the 2007 season was one of the best; many fish over and around 4lb where landed. I'm hoping to find this out for my self later this year.
To my way of thinking the Georgian Bay Fishing Camp is one of the best camps for your dollar. Team that up with the chance of a huge pike, musky or bass. No question, Dave Bulger, the owner of the camp is a great bloke, I'm positive that Dave will make your stay a time to remember. (note: Dave's not a fly-fisherman)
